New Baby Update

I'm still running the show here on our fantastic blog site. As a little game I am going to consciously make a grammatical error and see if anybody can find it. Have fun with that.

Now on with the new baby stuff. Kambria is doing well, as is her mother. She really likes to be held, so that didn't work out very well for us last night. She is really small and nobody here is used to being around something this little. It's pretty interesting dealing with a newborn again. She seems to be motoring right along and enjoying life as much as somebody can this early in life. Delson seemed like he finally realized something was up about the little baby that just showed up. I don't think he's quite figured out she's going to be here all the time like him, but it should be entertaining when he does. Now onto the real reason you are reading this, the pictures. By the way, there are more pictures in the post below.

I don't want to waste too much of your time by typing a lot. We just had my mom and dad visit their new granddaughter and I ended up with a couple more photos of the three of them and with Delson too. So here are some more pictures. By the way, Delson got a haircut today so I'm including a couple pictures of him also. We'll have more pictures again later, maybe some closer shots, but it depends on what happens.

I Know What You're Thinking...

So, by now you may have noticed that this is Alex, not Kristen, and when you see that it's me then you're probably wondering what's going on. Well, Kristen had our second child, a girl, about an hour ago. It was really quick and we checked in around 9:30 this morning. She was dilated at 8 cm so they rushed us into a room to get her an epidural. A little less than 2 hours after we checked in it was all over and I was looking at a brand new little girl.

We named her Kambria Kate Christensen. She is 20 inches long and weighed in at 7lb 1oz. We're very excited and everybody is doing well. Kristen is doing exceptionally well. She feels a lot better than last time and is only moderately mad at me. I do have a few pictures right now, but there will be plenty more to come later. Delson is with his grandparents right now and after his nap he'll come back to visit his new sister. I'm pretty sure he has no idea what happened in the past few hours.

We will have more info later. These are just the preliminary pictures and we will have many more later. Thanks for checking in and we'll get more as soon as we can.

Update

Sorry there are no pictures associated with this post, but I figured it has been over a month since my last post and I needed to update everyone on our family's status. I have 4 days left until my due date, and nothing much seems to be changing. Last visit to the doctor, I was dilated to 2cm and the baby's head is very low, so those are good signs, but no contractions or anything as of yet. We are just waiting for her to decide when she wants to come. However, I am scheduled to be induced next Thursday, February 4 if she has not decided to come by then. So within the next week, we will have a new baby in the house! I am excited!

My last day of work was last Friday, and it is nice to be done. I'm sure there will be times when I will miss associating with adults in a work environment and doing accounting (and of course the extra income), but overall, I think this is the best decision for our family for now. It will be nice to be home all the time with my children.

Delson is learning and growing everyday. He is 13 months now and we can really see him making huge mental strides lately. He has gotten really good at signing "please" not only for food but when he needs help with a toy or wants to be held, etc. It is nice that he can sign this because there is a lot less whining now. Sometimes he will even actually say "please," but that does not happen very often. He has also gotten really good lately at dropping things on the floor and saying "Uh Oh." He likes that one a lot. I'm glad he is trying to talk, but constantly dropping things can be a bit of a nuisance since bending over is not so easy for me lately. Also exciting this week was when I asked Delson what the dog says and he replied with "woof woof." However, when I asked him what the cat says, he replied with "moo" which is still pretty good considering one of our cats is named MooMoo and so....Delson is a bit confused. Poor boy. Of course when we named MooMoo we never thought about how that would affect our future children. We are working on "meow," but for now "moo" is good for the cat. Delson is such a sweetie and I am grateful that I will be home more often to spend more time with him. He will be a wonderful big brother!

Delson's 1st Birthday Party

Today was Delson's 1st Birthday Party. I was very stressed out getting ready for it, but it turned out to be a lot of fun and I think Delson had a really good time with his cousins and with all of the new toys. My high school friend, Emily, is also in town staying with us right now, and she was a huge help, so I was very grateful to have her around. She took all of the pictures from the party, so that was a tremendous help. Alex was super helpful today as well, so they both eased my stress quite a bit. I'm glad the party is over now, but it was a LOT of fun! Here are some pictures of the joyful event:

Delson got a lot of awesome gifts. Here you can see the cute Nativity that my Aunt Darcy got for him on the table behind him and Case. He loves to put all the animals in his mouth.

Delson also got an awesome airplane and a large Lego set from Grandma Karen and Grandpa Walt. He got some cute clothes from his cousin Amy, and Emily even got him some cute baby legs. We didn't get a picture of the gift Bryce and Sharee and Drew and Lindsey got him, but they got him an awesome basketball hoop and basketball that is tall and will grow with him. He and Case were playing so nicely with it and even passing the ball to each other. It was adorable. Delson received so many nice gifts, and I would like to say "Thank You" to everyone that got him a gift. He and the next 5 children we have are set for life now I think. Delson loves his new toys and we hope they will keep him occupied for the next 10 minutes or so. Thank you!

Happy 1st Birthday Delson!

Delson turned 1 year old today. I can hardly believe that a year has gone by since I gave birth to that cute little boy. His birthday party is Saturday afternoon, and I will make sure and take a lot of pictures of him and post them Saturday night so that everyone can see him eating cake and opening his presents. But for today, I'm just posting a small written blog.

Delson had his one year doctor check up today and he weighed in at 24.9 lbs (75%-ile) and measured 32.5" long (>97%-ile). So he is still a big boy! He's been running around so much now and keeping so busy that he has lost some of his baby weight, which is perfect. It is nice that he isn't gaining weight as quickly as he was the first 9 months because I can actually hold him for longer now, even with my big belly. He has become so fun and he is learning to entertain himself more now, which is really nice for me and will be very helpful once baby girl arrives next month. He's just growing up too quickly. I love him so much and am grateful to have him in my life. Sometimes he drives me nuts of course, but my love for him is unconditional and I am learning patience more and more each day. Happy 1st Birthday Delson! You are now officially a little boy and no longer a baby! I love you!
