4th of July

I'm sorry I haven't posted in SO long. I'm just not very good at it anymore, but now I have quite a lot of catching up to do. We had a great 4th of July at Del & Daneen's this year. It was nice that instead of the normal gun shooting frenzy and explosions, the boys built a gigantic slip-n-slide out of a tarp. They sure seemed to have a lot of fun on it. They would spray themselves with the hose and cover their bodies in dish soap so they could go really far. It was pretty hilarious. I took Delson swimming in the pool and then there were fireworks and lots of food of course. Enjoy the pictures! (Click on the pictures to blow them up and see more detail.)

6 Month Photo Shoot

Delson is now officially 6 months old. I feel like this is a huge milestone to reach and I can hardly believe he is half a year old already. He has changed and grown so much in the last 6 months. It is still hard for me to wrap my head around it. But I love him more and more every day and I know he loves me too. He is such a sweetheart. Today he had his 6 month doctor check up. He weighed in at 20 lbs 7 oz which put him in the 90th percentile and is 28 1/4" long putting him in the 97th percentile. WOW! He is a really big boy. The doctor said that usually he would think a baby this weight was chubby, but because Delson is so long, if he weighed any less, he would think he was too skinny. So...in other words, Delson is a big healthy boy.

Some cute things about him lately.... He started on rice cereal a couple of weeks ago and vegetables just a week ago. He does NOT like green beans, but I still forced him to eat them. He will eat them, but he makes a face and twitches every time he takes a bite and towards the end, he starts to gag, which is when I stop of course. I think he is going to be a picky eater like his dad. Tomorrow he gets to try fruits, so I'm hopeful that he will like those a lot more.

On Saturday he went swimming in Grandpa Del and Grandma Daneen's pool. At first he didn't really like it, but once daddy took a hold of him and taught him how to splash and pulled him through the water really fast, he started to like it. He ended up really relaxing and enjoying it, so we definitely have to do that more often. I don't have any pictures of him in the pool, but we did get it on Grandpa Del's video camera, so we will have to get that from him and post it on the blog. It was a really fun experience.

Delson is also starting to crawl. He is mostly army crawling. He will get up on his knees and rock back and forth, but he hasn't quite figured out how to put one knee in front of the other. He will figure it out soon though. He is very determined and he really wants to get his hands on everything and explore anything he can. Once he is really crawling, I know I will be telling him "NO" all the time and having to put everything away and out of his reach, but it will be good for him to finally explore. Enjoy the pictures!

He LOVES to go for walks and be outside. He never makes a peep when we are on a walk. He is always content and will even fall asleep even though he won't normally fall asleep anywhere outside of his bed.

Memorial Day Weekend

My sister, Miranda, her husband, Reza, and my niece, Leila, all came to visit us last weekend. We had such a great time together. That was the first time we have seen each other in almost a year, so it was nice for them to finally meet Delson and for me to see Leila again. Leila has changed so much since I last saw her. She is walking all over the place, getting into everything, saying lots of words, and also being a good helper. She is the cutest niece ever! I am sad that our visit was so short, but I'm glad that we finally got to see each other after all this time. Here are some pictures from their visit:

Delson...Nearly 5 Months Old

Delson is getting so old. He will be 5 months old on Sunday and I can hardly believe it. It is crazy to see how different he is now compared to when he was a newborn. Time just flies. Right now we are working on teaching him to roll over from his back to his stomach. He can roll over the other way really well, but when he does it in the night, he can't go back to sleep, so I have to get up and roll him back over. Once he can roll over both ways, I think I will have completely uninterrupted nights because he is sleeping 10-12 hours at night which is wonderful! He has also learned to bring his feet to his face and he loves sucking on his toes. Here are some pictures:

Best Friends Forever

Two weekends ago, my long time best friend since 1st grade, Tanya, and my Freshman dorm roomate and best friend, Kristen, came to visit with their husbands and babies. We had such an amazing time together! Their visit went WAY too fast, but we did a lot of fun things together and laughed A LOT! We had not all been together since graduation 2 years ago, so it was nice to finally be together again like we were at BYU. We played poker every night like the old days and enjoyed laughing at the babies when they were all crying at the same time. I will never forget it. Kristen figured that between the 3 of us we took over 400 pictures! So here are some of them:

Time with the Extended Family

This past weekend, Alex's grandparents, Madge & Dick, celebrated their 50th Anniversary by having all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren stay at their house in La Pine, Oregon. It was beautiful and we had such a wonderful time with all of the family. The weather was perfect and we even took family pictures. It was so much fun! Here are some pictures:

Park City Vacation

Last week Alex, Delson and I spent a week with my parents in Park City. It was wonderful! Alex and I got to ski 3 of the days while Grandma looked after Delson. She loved it! It snowed everyday, so we had amazing snow for April skiing. I'm sad that our trip is over, but we had such a good time! Here are some pictures:
