Las Vegas

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I just feel like nothing much has happened that is exciting until this last weekend when we went to Las Vegas. We trailered 8 Harley bikes down and there were 11 people from Mattawa that went. We left late Wednesday night and drove all night long and arrived Thursday afternoon. Thursday night we rode around the Vegas Strip and then Friday we went all the way to Death Valley, California. We rode about 300 miles on Friday and we were gone about 7 hours. It was a lot of fun. Saturday everyone but myself went to Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam for about another 300 miles and 7 hours of riding. I spent the day with my mom and dad because my bottom was rather sore after the first day of riding. We had some great meals and we took some awesome pictures. We left Sunday afternoon and arrived back home on Monday morning. It was sad to leave because we had such an awesome time, but it looks like we might be going back again soon. You just can't get enough of Vegas and the amazing sites!

Birthday Present

So...even though my birthday is still 3 days from now, Del and Daneen gave me their gift today and I got a gun! My very first gun. It is a P22 Walther. I went outside and practiced shooting it and it is great! It is light and pretty small and it shoots without much of a kick. I like it. Everyone thinks I should get my concealed weapons permit now. I don't know what I think about that, but we will see. I like my gun though! :-)

Another fun thing is that Del is going through his mid-life crisis right now and he decided to buy a few Harley Davidson motorcycles. We have been riding them around and it is a lot of fun. Even though it is about 45 degrees cold outside, we are enjoying the adrenaline rush of riding these beautiful motorcycles. We just have to dress up really warm.

Family History

So at church in our new area, I have been called to be a Family History Specialist. This year the stake president has asked that the adult members of all the wards look up 15 family names each and take them to the temple. This leaves our one ward alone with 2,205 names! This is a lot of names and I have been put in charge of coordinating the whole thing for our ward. It is a huge task, but things are going well so far, I think. I have actually really enjoyed learning how to do family history. It's quite addicting once you get into it.

Things here are starting to warm up a little bit. It has been in the mid-30's and 40's everyday now instead of 4 degrees. And the snow is melting which is good too. I hate driving in the snow. The other day I thought I was going to be driving over a large ice puddle, but when I started to drive through it, the ice cracked and I almost got my little Passat stuck in it. That was not a good feeling. I felt kinda like an idiot after that and my husband and father-in-law thought it was pretty funny when I told them about it too. For some reason, I'm just not smart when it comes to driving in the snow and ice. Hopefully I will get over that soon.

Snow!

So it snowed all day yesterday and we have over 6 inches of snow here. Tri-cities completely shut down because they had an ice storm and there was 2 inches of ice on everything including the freeways. No one was allowed on the freeways. Alex and his brothers didn't have to go to school today. They are lucky. I really don't like the snow because I hate driving in it, but it is beautiful to look at and even more awesome when you get to miss school. It is supposed to snow more tonight, so the boys might miss school again tomorrow. Sweet!

In other news...funny story. So a couple days ago we couldn't find our cat, Moo Moo. I got really worried because the food bowl was full and he is the fat cat, so he eats a lot and the food is usually almost gone every day when I get home from work. Alex, the boys, and I searched everywhere in the house. We couldn't find him anywhere. We looked outside too and it is freezing here, so we thought that if he had gotten outside he would try to get back in ASAP. There are also coyotes around and lots of people lose their cats to them so I was worried that he would get eaten. I started crying of course because this was very unlike Moo Moo and I was thinking the worst. Well...Del and Daneen, my in-laws, are getting a fireplace put in their family room and workers had been here all day, so we also thought that maybe he had escaped when they were here. But as I started on another search around the house for him, I heard a bell up in Dexter's room where the new pipe for the fireplace was just put in. I called for Moo Moo, but there was no sound. I walked downstairs to the construction area and another cat was walking around and starring up at the ceiling. I asked the cat what was wrong and then I heard another bell. I called Moo Moo's name and I heard a meow. I walked around to the other side of the fireplace and looked up to see Moo Moo's little face peering through a small hole in ceiling next to the fireplace pipe. Apparently the pipe had not been sealed off in Dexter's room earlier that morning and Moo Moo was curious and crawled into the small space in the ceiling between the 1st and 2nd floors. When the workers arrived, he was still in there and they didn't know and they sealed off the pipe with him inside. So...we had to go up to Dexter's room and open up the pipe seal and pull Moo Moo out. He was VERY dirty when we pulled him out, but he was so happy to stuff his face with food first thing after he got out. Curiosity almost killed the cat this time. We love you Moo! Silly cat.

Blogging Begins

So Alex and I decided that we wanted to start blogging because a lot of people do it and it is a great way to stay connected to people. But I will probably be doing most of the blogging, because it really isn't Alex's thing. But I hope that I can write frequently and keep people updated on our life together.

Alex and I are living in Washington now with Alex's parents and things are going well so far. Alex is going to school full time and I am working full time for Alex's dad at his potato packing shed. We hope to save up a lot of money over the next couple of months and see if we can possibly buy a place of our own. Right now I am planning on going back to school in July full time to become a Radiology Tech, so we will see what happens.

It is super cold here in Central, WA. I wake up every morning to go to work and it is only 4 degrees outside. BBBBRRRRRRRR!!! And since we have been here, the temperature has not been above 30 degrees. It even snowed/ice-stormed today. In other words, I can't wait until summer! But life is great!
